Little Loans is a credit broker, working with a large panel of trusted and responsible lenders. We would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to Zilch.

Who is Zilch

Founded in 2018, Zilch is a credit provider that allows you to spread the cost of purchases over 6 weeks or 3 months. You can read more about their mission on their website.

“Our vision? To eliminate the high cost of consumer credit – for good.”

Is Zilch authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA)?

Yes, Zilch is authorised and regulated by the FCA, under the name Zilch Technology Limited.

Where can I find Zilch reviews?

You can find reviews from Zilch users on Trustpilot.
As of November 2025, Zilch is rated ‘excellent’ on Trustpilot, and 84% of their reviews are 5*.

How does Zilch work?

With Zilch, you can spread the cost of bigger purchases over 6 weeks or 3 months. Once approved, you’ll get a virtual Zilch card, which you can add to your digital wallet. You can also order a physical card for a small fee.

There’s no interest when you spread the cost with Zilch, however, some stores have a purchase fee, which will be added to your first installment. You’ll find thousands of stores you can shop at with no fee in the Zilch app.

When you join Zilch, you’ll be put on to one of three products:

Here, we’ll just be looking at the Zilch Classic card.

Does Zilch offer a physical card?

Yes, you can get a physical Zilch card, however, you don’t need one. Once approved, you’ll immediately get your virtual card. You can then order a physical card via the app for a small fee.

Who can apply with Zilch?

You can apply to open a Zilch account if you:

  • Are over the age of 18;
  • Are a UK resident; and
  • Do not already have a Zilch account.

How much money could I borrow with Zilch?

With Zilch Classic, you could be approved for a limit of up to £3000. Your limit will be tailored to your individual circumstances.

You can grow your credit limit by using Zilch regularly and responsibly, and by ticking off a few simple tasks in the Zilch app.

How long do I have to repay the money borrowed with Zilch?

With Zilch Classic, you repay in equal instalments over 6 weeks or 3 months.

You pay 25% of the total purchase cost (plus any fees) up front at checkout. The remainder of the purchase cost is split into three equal payments, paid every fortnight or every month, depending on which payment plan you chose.

Let’s say you used your Zilch Classic card to buy a new microwave and the total cost of the microwave is £60. If you opt to Pay over 6 weeks, your repayments would look like this:

  • Upfront payment: £15.
  • Two weeks after purchase: pay £15.
  • Four weeks after purchase: pay £15.
  • Six weeks after purchase: pay the final £15.*

Now, let’s take a look at the three-month repayment option.
If you purchased a £500 television and opted to Pay over 3 months, your repayments would look like this:

  • Upfront payment: £125.
  • One month after purchase: pay £125.
  • Two months after purchase: pay £125.
  • Three months after purchase: pay the final £125.*

*Please be aware that repayment examples are for illustrative purposes only. Some retailers have a purchase fee, which is added to your first instalment.

You can also use your Zilch card to pay in full and earn up to 5% back in Zilch Rewards. Use your Rewards to discount your next purchase, or save them up to spend on something bigger.

You can find out more about Zilch Rewards here. Terms and conditions apply.

What Annual Percentage Rate (APR) does Zilch advertise?

For their Classic product, Zilch advertises a Representative APR of 18.6%. Please note that Zilch does not charge interest, although some retailers may have a fee, which is reflected in the Representative APR.

Will using Zilch affect my credit score?

Yes, Zilch reports repayments to credit reference agencies, so using Zilch could have a positive or negative effect on your credit score.

When you sign up to Zilch, they will run a soft search on your financial history. A soft search will not impact your credit score and will only be visible on your credit file to you.

If you miss your repayments, this could damage your credit score. However, paying on time or early could increase your credit score – as long as you don’t have outstanding debt elsewhere.

Does Zilch charge late fees?

No, Zilch does not charge fees for late repayments, although multiple late or missed repayments will damage your credit score, and may result in your credit limit being reduced, or your card being blocked for future use.

It’s easy to keep track of when payments are due using the Zilch app. If you think you might miss a payment, you can use the Snooze feature to delay it by 4 or 8 days, subject to eligibility, fees may apply. Snooze can only be used once per purchase and needs to be used at least 24 hours before your payment is due.

Remember, you should never spend more money than you need to or can afford to repay.

Zilch states that any customers facing difficulties making repayments should contact them as soon as possible.

Can I make an early repayment with Zilch?

You can make an early repayment with Zilch via the app.
