Originally launched in 2006, Zuto used to go by the name Car Loan 4U. Since then, the company’s name has changed but their mission stays the same: “We promise to make financing a car simple.”
Zuto have twice made the Sunday Times’ list of Best Companies to Work For.
Is Zuto authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA)?
Yes. You can find their company information on the FCA register here.
What is car finance?
As the name suggests, car finance is a way to spread the cost of paying for a car.
Car finance may work like a standard loan, in that you borrow money and then pay it back in instalments, including interest.
There are different types of car finance available; the most common being Personal Contract Purchase (PCP); Hire Purchase (HP); and a personal loan.
How much money can I search for with Zuto?
The amount of money you could be able to borrow will depend on your financial situation.
Don’t forget, you should never apply to borrow more money than you need to.
What representative Annual Percentage Rate (APR) does Zuto advertise?
Zuto is a credit broker, not a lender. In regard to APR, Zuto have included the following information on their website:
"Our rates start from 8.9% APR. The rate you are offered will depend on your individual circumstances. Representative Example: Borrowing £8,000 over 60 months with a representative APR of 19.0% the amount payable would be £201 a month, with a total cost of credit of £4,064 and a total amount payable of £12,064."
How does Zuto work?
1. When you initially apply for car finance at Zuto, they’ll carry out a soft search with no impact to your credit score and provide you with a provisional decision in just 60 seconds.
2.If Zuto’s provisional decision shows that you could be approved for car finance and you’d like to progress to the next stage, you will need to undergo a hard search. Please be aware that a hard search will remain on your credit file for up to 12 months, and multiple hard searches within a short period of time will damage your credit score.
3. If your application is approved, you can browse through thousands of cars. Zuto will complete a complimentary vehicle and history check on any car you like. Once you’ve found your dream vehicle, you can complete the paperwork.
4. Zuto will handle the payment with the dealer. The money you’ve borrowed will be repaid in instalments. Please note that your repayments will include interest.
Who can apply at Zuto?
You can apply at Zuto if you:
- Are over the age of 18; and
- Have lived in the UK for more than three years.

Why have I been matched with Zuto?
When searching for a loan with Little Loans, did you specify that your reason for seeking funds was to cover the cost of a car purchase?
If so, this might explain why you have been matched with Zuto.
Will car finance affect my credit score?
Yes. Car finance, like all types of credit, will affect your credit score.
When you apply for car finance directly with a lender, they will run a hard search on your financial history. This will leave a mark on your credit file and will be visible to any other company who views your information. Multiple hard searches within a short period of time will cause your credit score to decline.
A late or missed repayment will be reported to the credit reference agencies (CRAs) and will damage your credit score.
If you repay the money you owe on time each month, alongside effectively managing any other existing credit commitments, you could see an increase in your credit score over time.
